[Victoria Beckham] is said to be concerned that she has rounded shoulders, after years of holding herself incorrectly in high heels and turned to alternative therapy.

She has reportedly turned to the Alexander Technique, a discipline that focuses on strengthening the body and its core muscles.

Mrs Beckham -who was striding around Paris in a cream jacket and five inch heels yesterday - has been given the advice to try the regime by friends in Los Angeles.

It is used by many actors, singers and dancers and is a method of changing everyday movement habits to improve freedom of movement, balance, co-ordination and posture, and to reduce tension.

A friend said: 'Victoria has been working hard on getting a straight back and correcting her terrible posture. You can tell that something is working as the years of Victoria's shoulders being slumped are over, she's walking straighter now.'

Mrs Beckham, 35, suffered from so much foot strain that doctors advised her to have an urgent bunionectomy  -  but that would force her out of her heels and to take time off her busy work schedule for months.

The Alexander Technique has helped her alleviate some of the foot pain as it teaches you to shift body weight without strain on your feet.

The source added: 'Victoria has been told that her poor posture has caused her bones to be improperly aligned, with her muscles, joints and ligaments taking more stress than they should.

'She absolutely hates the fact that in pictures she often has somewhat of a hunched-back stance and she hates having rounded shoulders, so she has been saying she feels so much better.

'She practises the discipline after the gym every morning and at night. She is standing straighter and her body feels more aligned. It also helps you cope with stress.'

The former Posh Spice was in London to attend the British Fashion Awards on Wednesday night. She is getting ready to show her latest collection at New York Fashion Week in February.
